Black Sun Aeon - "Routa"

Black Sun Aeon este unul din proiectele lui Tuomas Saukkonen, cel care are multe proiecte (unul dintre ele fiind Before The Dawn care a deschis concertul Amorphis din octombrie 2009).
"Routa" este al doilea album produs sub aceasta titulatura.

Routa – care inseamna inghet (la sol) in limba finlandeza, a fost inspirat de una dintre cele mai grele ierni care a afectat Finlanda. Albumul e alcatuit din doua parti, repartizate pe doua cd-uri – Talviaamu (Dimineata de iarna) si Talviyö (Noapte de iarna).

"I don't like writing blogs but I DO love making music and since been recieving numerous question about all kinds of future plans an mainly about the next album of Black Sun Aeon I decided to make my life a bit easier and write A GODDAMNED blog instead of answering all the same questions again and again :).  
The recordings session started 6.12. and the schedule was and is very tight. A double album and 14 days to record it all. 4 days where booked for drums and 5 weeks on the road supporting Amorphis with Before The Dawn created a bit stressy situation to begin with. Drums are very physical instrument and long breaks from rehearsing never does any good. Brief holiday after the tour and small chance in the schedule lead to the cruel fact that I had only 4 days to rehearse for the recordings instead of the 2 months I was planning to have.
Under the challenging conditions it was and always is very important to have a solid wing man in the studio! Juho (guitarist of BTD) was in charge of the drum recordings and will also mix the album like he did with the debut album already one year ago. We have recorded 5 albums and numerous demos together and form a very well working team. We didn't go over 8h in any of the days and got 14 songs done and as much as I would like to take credit of that as a drummer a lions share goes to Juho for keeping things "real" :).
The material is very varied this time and that was one the reasons to make a double album. Tempos vary from sloooow 60bpm to 180bpm. White album (not the beatles album) and a Black album (not the metallica album) so to speak. Cold winter day and dark winter night. It will be a theme album about Finnish winter and darkness and the title for the album is "ROUTA" = ground frost." (-Tuomas / BLACK SUN AEON-)
